Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has congratulated Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on his conferment with the prestigious Christian Icon Award by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), describing the recognition as a testament to his exemplary leadership and commitment to public service.
Dafinone, in a congratulatory message, said the award reflected the governor’s humility, dedication to the welfare of the people and commitment to Christian values, including faith, integrity, compassion and service to humanity.
The award was presented during CAN’s 50th anniversary celebration at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.
The senator described the honour as a source of pride to Delta State and the Urhobo people, noting that Oborevwori’s leadership had continued to attract recognition beyond the state.
He said the governor’s commitment to peaceful coexistence, inclusive governance and the advancement of the collective aspirations of Deltans reflected the values of responsible and people-oriented leadership.
According to Dafinone, the recognition by Nigeria’s foremost Christian body is not only a celebration of the governor’s leadership but also a call to greater service to God and humanity.
He expressed confidence that the honour would further inspire Oborevwori to consolidate the achievements of his administration’s MORE Agenda and strengthen unity among the people of Delta State.
The senator also urged the governor to sustain policies and programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of residents and advancing peace, prosperity and development across the state.
“Recognition of this nature comes with an even greater responsibility to remain steadfast in the service of God and humanity,” Dafinone said.
He added that Oborevwori’s commitment to inclusive governance and peaceful coexistence remained vital to the continued progress of Delta State.
On behalf of his family and the people of Delta Central Senatorial District, Dafinone wished the governor continued wisdom, sound health, strength and divine grace to lead the state to greater heights.
He expressed optimism that the Christian Icon Award would further encourage the governor to sustain his administration’s development drive and commitment to the welfare of Deltans.
